Our story

Since 2017, “Fat Doughnut”s richly topped dunkers have been a big hit and gained friends and fans from coast to coast. Our founder and owner, Ilya Melamed, offers a “sinful” lineup of doughnuts.  Hand-made from scratch, the larger-than-life pillowy delights are topped and filled with decadent sweets, including maple glaze, Dulce de Leche, Nutella, strawberry, cinnamon, powdered sugars, and sprinkles. Our customers feel the “Brooklyn love” in each bite they take.  

Making a great doughnut from scratch takes time and expertise.  A great recipe is key.  Ours was passed down from Ilya’s grandmother.  Maybe that is why “Fat Doughnut” feels like home to many; our staff and customers became our family.  Scratch-made delectable food, fresh yeast doughnuts, made all day in small batches, and bold fragrant coffee served with sides of laughter and stimulating conversations. To say that “Fat Doughnut” has become a neighborhood hub is an understatement.  Ilya’s hospitality is just as known among our fans as our delightful doughnuts, succulent pulled pork, and perfectly golden chicken and waffles.
